In
Congress, does the fact that you are
Latino impact your decisions?
Absolutely. I feel a moral obligation to
my community – whether Mexican, Cuban,
Puerto Rican, or any other group. I
believe everyone should have a chance to
have the American dream.
Why
politics?
I am a strong believer that you can
achieve your goals through community
based involvement. I also realize that
our political system only recognizes
those who stand up, participate, and are
counted.
It’s so
tough for Latinos in the U.S. Where do
you get your confidence to reach for our
goals?
First and foremost
my faith. along with my family and
understanding that if you work hard
enough, you will achieve your dreams.
How do you
see Latinos impacting the future of the
U.S.?
I believe that similar to other
migratory waves, Latinos will impact our
society for the better in every possible
way. However, we will do so while
continuing to share the same values that
make this country great.
What do
you think is the Latino American
Lifestyle?
It’s modern, but
at the same time rooted in our values
that highlight family, our work ethic,
and our faith in God.

Taking
the Lead |
Latinos across the nation are playing a
vital role in shaping the future of this
country through our actions, leadership and
hard work. As a Latina, Diane Alverio,
President of D. Alverio & Co, a Connecticut
based public relations and marketing firm,
knows the importance of helping to chronicle
the Latino experience in the U.S. through
the individuals who by virtue of their
achievements, their contributions and their
confidence, demonstrate how as Latinos we
can take the lead!
