The reality
is that the north east offers endless
possibilities. The exteriors are as
diverse as the people. Rich with
history, architecture, shorelines and
mountains and everything in between you
can shoot in present day or any other
era for that matter. And snow, snow is a
big one. For those that had it back home
and miss it terrible and for the LA
types that go as far as getting
companies to produce it for special
events so that it feels cozier.
But in my opinion, it is more than that.
I believe that a lot of Celebs are
opting out of the whole Hollywood scene.
Think about it, if you are a celebrity
in LA you can’t even go out for a pizza
without it showing up on every evening
entertainment show and every
publication. With a caption “They even
go out for pizza.” What is that supposed
to mean? Are they not supposed to eat
pizza? Can you imagine if you said that
to a New Yorker. Or, if a slew of
paparazzi were flashing away, while the
regular Joe was trying to enjoy his
pizza pie? The paparazzi wouldn’t stand
a chance. They wouldn’t know what hit
them. New Yorkers don’t stand for that
kind of stuff. Nor do the people in any
of the northeast states for that matter.
They just don’t. Which is why they are
considered “real people” to the
Hollywood types.
Which brings me to my point? When kids
became introduced to the Hollywood scene
by such stars as Madonna, life got a new
meaning. Now, most Hollywood couples and
single moms have kids, and are starting
to realize that life is more than having
your picture taken or going to yet
another red carpet event. You can be
recognizable and still have a peaceful
existence and some degree of privacy.
You just can’t do it in LA. I mean, can
you imagine what Christina Applegate is
going thru? The woman had to say chao to
her chest. And then tell the whole world
about it. Before she even started
getting chemo therapy. Or implants.
Without even having a moment to
understand what happened to her. It is
because of this ridiculousness that many
are simply fed up and leaving Hollywood.
Many film stars are moving into the TV
world and have some power over the
productions. So, if Tyra Banks says I
want to move my very successful TV show
to New York that is exactly what will
happen. That is exactly what did happen
and the first thing she said was that
she went shopping for hours, walked
along the streets and no one bothered
her. It was liberating to her.
So this fall shows like Ugly Betty with
America Ferrera have a new backdrop,
NYC. And it is my prediction that soon
many more will follow. This is
great news for all you would be actors.
I have even benefited by this shift. In
Sept. Meg Ryan stars in The Women and
guess who plays her assistant if only
for a few minutes. ME!!! That’s right!!
I will be right there with all those
fantastic women (if they don’t cut my
scene, which has happened before). And
not only that but I just completed
filming the 2nd episode of the 3rd
season of Brotherhood. So, Watch out
Hollywood, here I come. Or better yet,
Hollywood, COME AND GET ME!!
Speaking of single moms. It’s about time
that MOMS, especially SINGLE MOMS got
some recognition. It has long been
argued that boys need a father figure
and that boys are more at risk if they
grow up in a single parent home. Without
a father. Well USA Today along with all
the research and data to back up their
story, also highlighted some single moms
that haven’t done so bad. Phelps, the 8
times gold medal winner in this years
Olympic Games, you guessed it. Raised by
his mom. Along with non other than The
Presidential hopeful Barack Obama. And
our very own Benjamin Bratt. So, saludos
madres and keep up the good work. It can
be done. Don’t let anyone tell you
different.
